As part of its continued commitment to supporting environmental sustainability and community development in the Kingdom of Bahrain, the Yousif & Aysha Almoayyed Foundation, in partnership with the National Initiative for Agricultural Development (NIAD), inaugurated a new tree planting initiative at the University of Bahrain under the Fifth Phase of the national “Forever Green” Campaign.
This initiative reflects the Foundation’s ongoing efforts to contribute to the expansion of green spaces across the Kingdom and support impactful environmental projects that promote long-term sustainability and social responsibility.
The project inauguration was attended by H.E. Shaikha Maram bint Isa Al Khalifa (Secretary General-National Initiative for Agricultural Development), Dr. Fuad Mohammed Al-Ansari (President, University of Bahrain), Yousif & Aysha Almoayyed Foundation officials – Mrs. Mashael Farouk Almoayyed (Chairperson), Mrs. May Almoayed (Vice Chairperson), Mrs. Noora Feleyfel (Board Member), Mrs. Jawaher Fareed Almoayyed (Board Member), and Mr. Ashish Shetty (Foundation Manager) along with a number of officials, academics, and individuals interested in environmental sustainability.
The project comes as part of the ongoing national “Forever Green” campaign and aims to create greener spaces that enhance the quality of life within the university campus, provide a healthier and more balanced environment for students and staff, and strengthen community partnerships in supporting projects with lasting environmental impact.
The initiative included the planting of 105 trees and shrubs suitable for the local environment, selected for their adaptability to Bahrain’s climate conditions, as well as their role in providing shade, improving air quality, reducing carbon emissions, and adding aesthetic and environmental value to the university facilities.
Mrs. Mashael Farouk Almoayyed, Chairperson of the Yousif & Aysha Almoayyed Foundation, stated: “At Yousif & Aysha Almoayyed Foundation, we believe that supporting environmental sustainability is an essential part of our responsibility toward the community. This initiative reflects our continued commitment to creating long-term positive impact through meaningful partnerships that contribute to a greener and more sustainable Bahrain.”
This project further reflects the Yousif & Aysha Almoayyed Foundation’s vision of supporting sustainable environmental initiatives and strengthening corporate social responsibility through meaningful partnerships that create measurable community impact.
H.E. Shaikha Maram bint Isa Al Khalifa emphasized that expanding tree planting projects within educational institutions enhances environmental awareness among students, encourages the adoption of sustainable practices, and contributes to creating healthier educational environments that inspire creativity and productivity.
Dr. Fuad Mohammed Al-Ansari also emphasized that the University’s partnership in the “Forever Green” campaign reflects its strong belief that investing in the environment is an investment in the future of education itself. He noted that trees are not merely plants, but a practical step toward creating a university environment that inspires intellectual contribution, safeguards the well-being of its members, and reinforces the concept of community partnership for a greener and more sustainable nation.
At the conclusion of the event, attendees praised the strong partnership between the National Initiative for Agricultural Development and the Yousif & Aysha Almoayyed Foundation, highlighting the Foundation’s valuable support toward environmental and developmental projects and emphasizing the importance of continuing national initiatives that promote tree planting and environmental preservation.
