BALANCED SCORECARD

Y.K. Almoayyed & Sons joined the prestigious ranks of high performing organizations worldwide after its induction into the Palladium Balanced Scorecard Hall of Fame for Executing Strategy at the 2011 Palladium EMEA Summit in London.

The Hall of Fame Award honours organizations that have achieved business excellence through the use of the Balanced Scorecard (BSC), the world’s preeminent strategy and performance management system. Based on the simple premise that “what gets measured is what gets done,” the BSC links strategy to operations to drive business outcomes.

The Balanced Scorecard system has been implemented and institutionalized in all operating divisions of YKA and has been instrumental in cascading and deploying the company’s vision, mission & strategy. It is also a tool for performance measurement and review and used in identifying and implementing several cost reduction and process improvement projects that led to considerable amount of savings in all divisions.

Through the BSC system, the performance is measured & reviewed based on financial parameters (lagging indicators & outcome measures of organizational performance) and non financial parameters (leading indicators to drive future performance), which are equally important for organizational success and satisfaction of other stakeholders, including customers, suppliers and employees.

ISO 9001:2008

ISO 9001:2008 is the most widely adopted Quality Management System in the world. It focuses on achieving & delivering standards of quality that exceed customer expectations through the adoption, review, and audit of standardized policies, procedures, records and documents, technologies, resources and quality objectives. The aim is to continuously improve internal processes in order to achieve higher quality & customer satisfaction. ISO certification is a vital business requirement as it is a pre qualification requirement in most tenders and contracts.

YKA began its quality journey with the implementation of Quality Management System ISO 9001:2000 in its automobile division Almoayyed Motors in 2003. The division obtained its ISO certification in 2006 and since then has been upgraded to ISO 9001:2008 in 2009. In 2012, Almoayyed Motors was recertified for ISO 9001:2008 and annual surveillance audit is done by the external auditors to ensure compliance to the QMS.

ISO 9001:2008 QMS implementation and certification was also applied to the Electronics and Home Appliances Division in 2010, which was recertified in 2013.
