Edmaj – Corporate Social Responsibility  

Y. K. Almoayyed & Sons is in the forefront of corporate social responsibility (CSR) through its history of philanthropic activities. From his earliest days, Yousuf Khalil Almoayyed involved himself in charitable activities, and contributed to establish the Bahrain Red Crescent Society, the Rotary Club of Manama and the Bahrain Committee for Arab Support. In 1987 he personally financed the construction of a Drug and Alcohol Rehabilitation Centre, in memory of his late son Mohammed. In December 2010, BD1 million was donated to the Kidney Dialysis Unit at Salmaniya Hospital by the heirs of the late Yousuf Khalil Almoayyed.

With the continuation of Yousuf Almoayyed’s vision of a prosperous Bahraini society, Y. K. Almoayyed & Sons introduces EDMAJ, an initiative that emphasizes both Corporate Social Responsibility and Employee Engagement.

WHAT DOES EDMAJ MEAN?

The Arabic word EDMAJ means engagement. EDMAJ is the combination of separate entities to create one goal. Y. K. Almoayyed & Sons fused CSR and Employee Engagement as an affiliation to target a specific objective.


WHAT IS EDMAJ?

EDMAJ is a new program that was launched by Y. K. Almoayyed & Sons in September 2010. It is designed to help reinforce Corporate Social Responsibility through various initiatives that will be planned and implemented with the participation of employees.

EDMAJ is the power of working together for a better tomorrow.

EDMAJ INITIATIVES

Y.K. Almoayyed & Sons Automotive Group Supports Charity Golf – 17.11.2011

In support of breast cancer awareness and fund raising campaign, Y. K. Almoayyed & Sons Automotive Group sponsored the Think Pink Golf Tournament in Bahrain.

All four brands Nissan, Infiniti, Renault and Ford sponsored six holes on men's golf day and four holes on women's golf day.  Renault was also the sponsor of the hole-in-one tee off competition.

The tournament sponsorship amount of BD 3,000 is directed towards the education fund and will be utilised for sponsoring Bahraini healthcare professionals to receive internationally-recognised qualifications.


Y.K. Almoayyed & Sons Hosted Iftar Buffet for Orphans – 10.08.2011

Y.K. Almoayyed & Sons in association with Al Taweeya Islamic Society hosted an Iftar Buffet for orphaned children. School bags and stationery kits were distributed to more than 85 children during the event.

 



Y. K. Almoayyed Sponsored the Productive Families Event – 08.08.2011

Y.K. Almoayyed & Sons was one of the major sponsors of the Productive Families Ramadan Bazaar in cooperation with the Ministry of Social Affairs, which was held in the Manama Bab Al Bahrain Souq.


Y.K. Almoayyed & Sons Donated Physiotherapy Equipments to Muharraq Welfare Center - 08.08.2011

Physiotherapy tools and equipments were donated to Muharraq Welfare Center, Managing Director, Mrs. Mona Almoayyed expressed her gratitude towards the hard work that is being put together to provide comfort and necessary care for the elderly.

 



Y. K. Almoayyed Donated BD 50K to Scholarship Program – 12.07.2011

Y. K. Almoayyed and Sons has donated its latest contribution to the Crown Prince’s International Scholarship Programme (CPISP). A cheque for BD50,000 was presented by YKA Director, Mr. Mohammed Almoayyed as the third installment of the company’s BD250,000 silver sponsorship commitment to CPISP director Dr Ronald Koller.




Y.K. Almoayyed & Sons Supports Cancer Project – 04.07.2011

Y.K. Almoayyed & Sons donated BD1,000 to the Future Society for Youth’s project entitled 'Smile Project for Supporting the Cancer Disease in the Youth and their Parents'.

Mr. Sabah Al Zayani, President of Future Society for Youth, expressed his gratitude to YKA for the company’s contributions and involvement in developing and providing care to Bahrain’s society.



Y.K. Almoayyed & Sons Blood Donation Program – 24.06.2011

Y. K. Almoayyed & Sons organized its blood donation program at the Salmaniya Medical Centre Blood Bank on Friday, 24th June 2011.  The event was attended by more than eighty (80) staff members from YKA and Ashrafs.





Y.K. Almoayyed & Sons Supports “Kilina lil Bahrain” – 04.06.2011

Y.K. Almoayyed & Sons was proud to support “Kilina Lil Bahrain” (All for Bahrain), an event under the patronage of Her Highness Shaikha Zain bint Khalid Al Khalifa.  The charitable event was held at the Bahrain International Circuit, in support of the University of Bahrain’s rehabilitation and educational objectives. Mrs. Hala Almoayyed received the appreciation award for the company’s participation and donation of BD 2,000 and 40 high-end Brother laser printers.



New York Institute of Technology (NYIT) Movie Sponsorship – 3.03.2011

Y.K. Almoayyed & Sons donated a platinum sponsorship towards NYIT’s first movie. It helped NYIT’s School of Fine Arts and Computers Graphics project to develop the film with high quality Visual Effects, and 3D Graphics. The proceeds from the tickets and DVD’s sold for the ‘Gilgamesh Pearl’ movie were donated to ‘Charity Water’. 


Nissan sponsors ‘Beach Clean-up Drive’- 11.02.2011

Nissan were the sponsors of a beach clean-up drive organized through an event management company, Eventscom. The campaign focused on creating awareness about pollution on beaches and the negative impact on the environment. It took place at Al Jazayer Beach on February 11th 2011, where around 50 participants including Nissan employees and volunteers from different companies supported the cause.


Madrasati Palestine Bahrain Chapter – 13.12.2010

Madrasati Palestine is a Queen Rania initiative that aims to renovate schools, and improve the quality of education in East Jerusalem, under the patronage of the Jordanian Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs.

On December 13th 2010 under the patronage of Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah of Jordan, and in the presence of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Kingdom of Bahrain, Her Majesty attended a fundraising dinner at the Bahrain National Museum. A few auctions took place to raise funds for the initiative, as well as Bahrain-based Alia Centre for Autism and Early Intervention.

One of the many charitable events was organized by chapter member Ms. Mashael Almoayyed. The spa fund-raising event was to educate children about the initiative. 


Y.K. Almoayyed & Sons Sponsors AWA Cherry Tree Trot – 04.12.2010

The Cherry Tree Trot is a series of races for able-bodied and physically or mentally challenged participants, which was held at the Bahrain International Circuit. On December 4th 2010, a Renault Sandero was donated by Y.K. Almoayyed & Sons, as a first prize for a lucky draw. The Ticket sales from the Lucky Draw directly benefited more than 35 non-profit Bahraini hospitals, adult homes, schools and educational centers that American Women’s Association (AWA) supports. 


BD 1million Benefit for Transplant Services – 02.12.2010

As part of Y. K. Almoayyed & Sons' 70 years celebrations, the chairman Mr. Farouk Almoayyed donated BD1 million to the Kidney Dialysis Unit at Salmaniya Medical Complex. This initiative is to expand Salmaniya Medical Complex's Almoayyed Nephrology and Kidney Transplant Centre, set up by the heirs of the late Yousuf Khalil Almoayyed.

Health authorities can now utilize the money by providing state-of-the-art services to conduct organ transplants. It aims to reduce the pressure on staff and the waiting list of patients for organ transplants.



The Annual Blood Donation Program – 22.11.2010

 Y.K. Almoayyed & Sons is proud to claim that the annual blood donation program has been successful for 3 consecutive years. In November 2010 it was officially placed under Y.K. Almoayyed& Sons’ EDMAJ initiative. Staff members with their families came forward as donors for Salmaniya Medical Complex Blood Bank. 


Infiniti Supports ‘Think Pink’ Charity Event – 29.10.2010

In support of breast cancer awareness and fundraising campaign, Infiniti and Y.K. Almoayyed & Sons sponsored the Think Pink Golf Event held at the Royal Golf Club. BD 1,000 was raised in a two holes tournament for buying breast cancer diagnosis and treatment equipment, and to create further awareness in the fight against breast cancer.

Also BD 2,000 was contributed for a charity gala dinner, which will go towards purchase of the Kingdom’s first MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) machine dedicated to detect breast cancer. 


Little Picassos – 06.08.2010

Y.K. Almoayyed & Sons sponsored Little Picassos 2009 and 2010 events. Both events were held under the patronage of His Excellency Shaikh Abdulla bin Hamad AlKhalifa. The 2009 theme ‘Clean + Green’ educated children about ways to safeguard our planet and how to tackle environmental pollution. The 2010 theme ‘Healthy me = Happy me’ created awareness about health and fitness in the aim to help reduce obesity amongst adolescents. Part of the events proceeds were donated to charities such as the Bahrain Kidney Friendship Society and Mother and Child Welfare Society’s Hope Institute.


BD 250,000 Contribution to Crown Prince’s Scholarship Program - 01.06.2009

On 1st June, 2009 Y.K. Almoayyed & Sons Chairman Mr. Farouk Almoayyed announced the company's support for the Crown Prince's International Scholarship Program (CPISP) as a silver sponsor, pledging a total amount of BD 250,000.  Mr. Almoayyed expressed his appreciation for the opportunity to contribute to the Program and praised the CPISP's achievements and efforts to develop outstanding students.



Donation of BD 37,700 for a new Tamkeen Program

Thirty seven thousand and seven hundred Bahraini Dinars ($ 100,000) has been donated by Y.K. Almoayyed & Sons to help launch the Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa Women Entrepreneurship Scheme.

With the support of HRH Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa the scheme has been launched through Tamkeen in coordination with Ebdaa Bank and the Supreme Council for Women. The aim of this program is to encourage women to reach their goals by providing support to those who wish to expand existing enterprises or start up a business from home.

Loans are available for the women via the Micro Islamic Finance Scheme with 50% Profit expense subsidized by Tamkeen, and a repayment tenor of up to 3 years depending on the financial amount, which ranges from BD 200 to BD 5000.

Y.K. Almoayyed & Sons is proud to have contributed to this inspiring program. 


The Migrant Workers Protection Society (MWPS)

Y.K. Almoayyed & Sons was proud to be the Pearl Sponsor worth BD 5,000 for ‘The MWPS Pearl Charity Ball’. The event was supported by the generous donation of BD 20,000 from His Highness The Crown Prince, Kingdom of Bahrain. The MWPS committee help protect migrant workers who are experiencing work-related injustice. The funds from the event were used to support operations of the shelter for abused domestic workers, to buy airline tickets for stranded workers, and to provide emergency relief. 


‘Be Safe with Nissan’ Campaign

This campaign was launched to spread road safety awareness among children at an early stage.

Nissan and Infiniti sponsored an event organized by St Christopher’s School Bahrain, where children participated in the online quiz and were presented with gifts. Also photographs were taken for the participants as a remembrance. 




Almoayyed Alcohol and Drug Addicts Rehabilitation Unit

Y.K. Almoayyed & Sons has been donating BD 6,000 for 5 consecutive years, supporting the ‘Guide to Recuperating from Addiction’, at the Mohammed Almoayyed Addiction Treatment and Rehabilitation Center. The amount was raised up to BD 7,200 to highlight the important role of the guide and efforts of medical team for their social voluntary work.

A recovered patient said “We are very grateful to the late businessman Yousuf Khalil Almoayyed for investing his charitable money into this centre. All praise goes to him and the efforts of the Ministry of Health employees who work here, for helping a lot of addicts in recovery and starting a new productive and prosperous life”. 


Muharraq Welfare Center

As part of EDMAJ’s Corporate Social Responsibility, a tour to the Muharraq Welfare Center was arranged. The main objective of the visit was to understand its operations, who they serve, and how Y.K. Almoayyed & Sons can support the Welfare Center. Mrs. Mona Almoayyed and the team donated BD 2,300 worth of Physiotherapy equipment. 


Orphanage Visit

Y.K. Almoayyed & Sons held an Iftar program for a group of orphans during the holy month of Ramadan, in cooperation with the Islamic Enlightenment Society.

Mr. Roy Mathew, HR Group Manager, Mr. Faisal AlAsfoor, Manager of Training and Development, and Mr. Ahmed Kamal, Recruitment Officer, spent time with the children and presented gifts at the joyous event.
