The National Concrete Company was founded in 1996. The company is owned by two of Bahrain's most respected names, Y. K. Almoayyed & Sons and Abdulla Ali Alwardi.

National Concrete Company has five divisions- National Readymix, National Blocks & Pavings, National Precast, National Marine Dredging and National Washed Sand & Aggregates – each operating in a different field of building and construction industry.

The National Readymix Division plant, located at Salmabad uses the latest in technology to meet the diverse needs of customers. Readymix concrete is processed in a fully computerised concrete batching plant with a production capacity of 560 cu. mtr. per hour. An ice plant is available for temperature controlled concrete. The batching plant is operated by trained and experienced operators. National Readymix was awarded the Quality Certification from the British Standards Institute (BSI) and is approved by the Ministry of Works & Agriculture, and the Ministry of Housing, Municipalities and Environment.

The National Blocks and Pavings is engaged in the production of concrete blocks and pavings widely used in the construction of buildings and pavements. Based at Salmabad, the Division uses state-of-the-art technology in a fully automated environment and offers various types of blocks. The Division’s plant is the only one on the island using ‘Mist Curing’ technology for curing. This unique curing process ensures that the finished blocks are of a consistently higher quality than blocks that are conventionally cured. National Precast offers customised concrete slabs according to the requirements of the construction industry. The division also uses ‘Fast Drying’ process at its plant– the first of its kind in Bahrain. The advantage of a large delivery fleet enables the company to keep strict delivery schedules. The concrete slabs produced at the plant undergo quality check for exact dimensions, perfect wire bond and precise position, smooth underside view without any pores and high concrete compressive strength. In addition, all the concrete slabs comply with the Ministry of Works and Housing regulations.

The National Marine Dredging Division has operations in Sitra and ASRY. The Division has three dedicated ships for dredging with capacities of 1200, 700 and 500 cubic metres respectively, with two tugboats for assisting the ships. Both ships are equipped for stationary and trail dredging. The division has its own laboratory where the sand is subjected to physical and chemical tests.

The National Washed Sand & Aggregates Division is involved in the supply of quality washed marine sand. The Division has its own plant located near ALBA and uses the latest equipment for washing sand. In fact, the division is the only one in Bahrain using the 200 E Hydro Sander washing equipment. It also has on-site captive Reverse Osmosis plant for water purification which is used for washing sand to eliminate chloride content.

Some of the prestigious projects undertaken by National Concrete’s various divisions include strengthening works of Manama-Muharraq bridge, the 47 storey Almoayyed Tower, Bahrain Mall, Al Dana Mall, Bahrain University Extension work, Al Fateh Highway garden project, Seef district project... to name just a few from a long list of successfully completed projects.
